Cabin Fever
I didn’t really have cabin fever this week, but it
seemed like a suitable title for this post. This week was actually quite
relaxing. Worked from home, watched movies with my roommate, caught up
on some reading. Sounds like a wonderful snow week to me. I didn’t
realize, however, until I left the house today how narrow my world had
become. Being snowed in the past three days, I had too quickly become
content with ordering clothes online and watching recorded shows on the
DVR. It wasn’t until I drove to work today that I remembered the beauty
that God intended us to experience in nature. And that it was.
Absolutely beautiful. The roads were clear today, perfect driving
conditions — safe, comfortable, peaceful. The snow that remained on the
ground seemed pure, blanketing all the mistakes of my past. The solid,
heavy ice chunks dripping from the trees, melting and evaporating into
nothingness were like my sins that have been graciously forgiven and
forgotten to allow me yet another chance. The sun seemed exceptionally
bright today as it struck the ground, giving me a fresh perspective. I
may be Jesus-Juking my day a little bit, but it was like a little
reminder from God, like He was saying “Hey, even when you’re all wrapped
up in the details of life that don’t matter, I want you to know I’ve
created more for you. Just get out and look for it.”
Thanks, God. I need these reminders.
